The Animation Hub – innovation and match-making

The Animation Hub is a professional network working to further the use of animation in product development, marketing, news, and education.

The Animation Hub is a national innovation network sponsored by the Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation. An innovation network is a meeting place where companies and knowledge institutions may share experiences, develop new ideas, and launch concrete projects within a professionally or technologically delimited field – in this case, the use of animation as a communication tool within science, medicine, news production, and interaction (e.g. in education, games, and device operation).

Network activities are managed and administered by a consortium consisting of the universities of Aalborg, Aarhus, and Copenhagen as well as The Animation Workshop in Viborg. In addition, the consortium has an advisory board where representatives from private companies provide sparring and help towards strategic network development.

Day-to-day network operations are handled by an office attached to The Animation Workshop.
The office collects and communicates knowledge, connect people across projects, provide assistance with activity funding, and coordinate the communication of network activities, e.g. via workshops, meetings, and seminars.

The basic idea and vision behind the network is that the communication potential of animation should be investigated. Everybody with an interest in animation is therefore encouraged to follow network activities. Along with the Danish animation industry, private companies seeking assistance to investigate, test, or in some other way challenge the use of animation are the real target group for the network's activities.
